Which JUDAS PRIEST songs does KK DOWNING want to play at the ROCK HALL induction? He answers

JUDAS PRIEST will be inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this autumn. PRIEST will receive the Musical Excellence Award at the event, which will honor Eminem, Dolly Parton, DURAN-DURAN, Lionel Richie, Pat Benatar, EURYTHMIC and carly simon in the Performers category.

According to Hall of Famethe JUDAS PRIEST members to be inducted include current members Rob Halford (singing),Ian Hill (low),Glenn Tipton (guitar) and Scott Travis (drums), with former members KK Downing (guitar),The Binks (drums) and deceased drummer david holland.

In a new interview with Danny Stoakes, downing we asked him which song(s) he would like to play PRIEST at the induction ceremony. He replied, “Oh, wow. I don’t really know what the setup would or could be – if Glenn– who is battling Parkinson’s disease but was on the road to perform during the encores of PRIESTthe last North American tour of “Metal Gods”, “Break the law” and “Living After Midnight” — “would be there and we would all be… I know Glenn just plays some of the shorter songs. And if that’s the situation, then I’m sure the songs would be anything Glenn would be able to feel comfortable with. And that’s good, and that’s good. But I don’t think it’s really about what the repertoire would be; I think it’s just about that and could it happen the way people want and expect it to happen. We will have to see. But it’s [early days], and it’s over six months away, so anything can happen by then. And it depends on what people want to happen, including me. I’ll think it over.”

downing reiterated that there are still many unknowns about how the induction ceremony will take place and if PRIEST will be called upon to perform at the event.

“I don’t know what’s gonna happen, mate,” he said. “The ceremony will be in November. I don’t know what’s going to happen. I don’t know how everyone feels. Like I said, until [last week], it was just a thought in the back of my memory. But now the induction hurdle has been cleared, so we’re on the other side now. Of course, it’s still doable and possible, but I don’t know. Anything can happen by then. We’ll see what happens. But it’s, I guess, for all intents and purposes, kind of a celebration of all that’s been achieved over many decades, and do we all want to be part of that celebration just for one night. We’ll see what everyone thinks about it. But certainly, as with the grammys achievement and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fameonce we step into these rocking chairs, whenever it might be [laughs]at some point in the future, that will definitely help us swing a little faster than everyone around us, I think, really.”

The 2022 rock room The induction ceremony will take place on November 5 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. It will be broadcast at a later date on HBO and broadcast on HBO Max. There will also be a simulcast radio broadcast on SiriusXMit is Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Radio channel 310.

downing left PRIEST in 2011 amid allegations of tape conflict, mismanagement and declining performance quality.

In 2019, downing said he reached out to JUDAS PRIEST to take part in the band’s 50th anniversary tour, but their response was that they weren’t interested in including him in the celebrations.

In 2018, downing revealed that he sent two resignation letters to his bandmates when he decided to quit JUDAS PRIEST. The former was described as “a graceful exit note, involving a smooth retreat from the music”, while the latter was “angrier, laying out all his frustrations with specific evenings”.

downing later said he thought the second letter was “a key reason” he wasn’t invited to join PRIEST after Tiptonthe decision to retire from touring.

In February, Hill and Halford told Billboard they would be happy to stand alongside downing to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction later this year. “It’s not a problem for us, no,” Hill mentioned. “Ken was an integral part of this group for a very, very long time. He deserves to be there with the rest of us.” Halford predicted that “it won’t be as awkward as ace [Frehley] and Rock [Criss with KISS‘s Rock Hall induction]. I don’t think it will be bothersome at all. I think you have to drop all that because it’s the night that counts. It’s the timing that counts – but, again, the proverbial saying, we’ll cross that bridge when we get there.”
