EXCLUSIVE: Lily James, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Himesh Patel are set to star in Providence, a comedy by Dylan Sellers and Limelight by Chris Parker and Boies Schiller Entertainment by David Boies and Zack Schiller. Limelight and BSE will finance and produce entirely, as well as Hideout Pictures by Shannon Houchins under the direction of Potsy Ponciroli. Michael Vukadinovich wrote the screenplay.
The story follows the eclectic residents of a quaint little island town who must navigate a sensational murder and the discovery of a million dollars as a series of increasingly bad decisions upend the once peaceful community. Principal photography begins this week in North Carolina.
Sellers, Parker, Houchins, Schiller and Boies will produce, with Vukadinovich, Tyler Zacharia, Sam Slater, Phil Keefe and Dane Eckerle executive producing. CJ Barbato will co-produce. Ponciroli’s recent collaboration with Hideout includes old Henry, darling of critics since its creation in Venice. Verve Ventures and UTA are co-representing the sale of the project.
James comes off some of the best reviews of his career as Pamela Anderson in the Hulu limited series Pam and Tommy, which was also produced by Limelight. She was also recently seen in Netflix Excavation.
Gordon-Levitt is also getting strong reviews for his portrayal of Uber founder Travis Kalanick on the Showtime anthology series. Super pumped. Then it has the Peacock series Poker face by Rian Johnson and will voice Jiminy Cricket in Disney’s live-action adaptation of Pinochio.
Patel is best known for his starring role in Yesterday, and his recent credits also include Principle and Don’t look up.
In addition to leading old Henry, Ponciroli is an established commercial and music video director who formed Hideout Pictures with Houchins and later co-created always the king for Viacom.
Known for his quirky specs, Vukadinovich is the originator of the famous Black List script The Secret Ingredients of Rocket Cola and The three misfortunes of Geppetto. Currently he also writes Viewmaster for Mattel and Paramount Pictures with James Wan attached to direct, and Arcana of Aliester for New Republic Pictures with Jim Carrey starring and attached to produce.
This collaboration marks Boies Schiller and Limelight’s sixth recent project together. Upcoming Movies Include Eva Longoria Starring Aristotle and Dante and Moving on, a comedy written and directed by Paul Weitz, starring Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda. The companies also worked together on the upcoming Spanish-language comedy when I’m young, which is slated for theatrical release via Lionsgate this year, and the thriller Naomi Watts The desperate hour as well as those of Netflix starling with Melissa McCarthy.
James is represented by UTA and Tavistock-Wood, Gordon-Levitt is represented by WME and attorneys Kimberly Jaime & Karl Austen. Patel is represented by WME, 42, and Gregory Slewett.
