Kevin Feige’s MCU Plan Tease Should Allay Your Phase 4 Worries

While many fear Marvel’s Phase 4 is too disconnected, Kevin Feige teases that the MCU’s next major arc is already being set up.

marvel’s Phase 4 The versions may seem too disconnected from the Infinity Saga, but MCU mastermind Kevin Feige’s tease of a bigger plan should ease anyone’s worries. While the MCU still uses phases to separate each era of releases, Phase 4 didn’t follow the same structure as Phases 1, 2, and 3. One obvious reason is that there are now Marvel Studios shows on Disney+, which greatly expanded the amount of MCU content in one phase, and the other is the lack of avengers 5 at the end of phase 4.

After Phase 1 of the MCU focused on introducing the heroes who would form the Avengers, a film that ended with a post-credits scene of Thanos, Phases 2 and 3 were devoted to setting up the Infinity Stones and the eventual quest for the Mad Titan. For example, even origin stories like Doctor Strange, which at the time had no connection to other heroes, still felt like part of a larger plan thanks to Time Stone’s script. All of this setup was finally rewarded in the high-stakes two-part finale Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgamein which nearly every hero and supporting character had a part to play.

Phase 4, on the other hand, still doesn’t feel like it’s heading towards an end goal – at least not as straightforward as the quest for the Infinity Stones. From the start, Phase 4 of the MCU aimed to expand the universe with the addition of characters who had yet to appear in the MCU. The Eternals and Shang-chi were introduced to the big screen, and Disney+ saw the debuts of names like Kate Bishop, Moon Knight, and Ms. Marvel. There’s also been a lot of world building and lore setting, with Kang in Loki and the forays into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness being important examples. Between all of these different fronts that Phase 4 is taking place on, the concern about the lack of a clear plan made sense. However, Kevin Feige confirmed in an interview (via total movie) that there is indeed a larger storyline already in motion, with pieces of the puzzle present throughout the MCU’s Phase 4 timeline, and that such a plan will be fleshed out in the coming months.

Phase 4 & 5 Most Important Avengers Villain

A sure prediction of where the MCU is heading now is Secret Wars. The comic book’s storyline about universes colliding would work like Marvel’s next Endgame, and the multiverse has already been the focus of Phase 4 thanks to releases like Loki, What if…?, Spider-Man: No Coming Homeand Doctor Strange 2. In reality, Doctor Strange 2The incursion tease suggests that Secret Wars could be happening sooner than many predict. There’s also the possibility that the multiverse is just a red herring so far, and that the real conflict in the MCU’s near future is actually the creation of several new super teams. The current Avengers lineup is still a mystery, the Thunderbolts are already set up by Val, and many potential Young Avengers members like Kate Bishop and America Chavez have been introduced.

So far, it is impossible to say how many Phase 4 the storylines will combine into a bigger one – but Kevin Feige’s statement is an assurance that they will. Still, given the current size of the MCU, something as simple as the Infinity Saga will likely never happen again. Instead, the MCU is now closer to Marvel Comics than it has ever been, which means it can be harder to anticipate where all the stories are going.
